When finding out that you are a finalist the worry is over. You do not have to fret over whether you made it or not because you know now that you have. Don't be discouraged if you do not, but rather take that as a lesson and experience and apply again. For those that did get accept that is wonderful because a lot of people apply.
I am a finalist this year (2014) 3,600 students over the U.S. have applied and with only 50 for each time period of a program it is a tough chance of getting in. I am very grateful for this opportunity and I am sure going to do my best to learn the Korean language.
Being a finalist starts your language learning journey. You begin reading and picking up on the symbols of the language. Meeting others with the same interest that pulls you all toward it. You help each other and become like a family. This has already started happening with me and I have not even gone to Korea yet for the actual summer program.
As a Finalist I hope you will do the same and strive for what you feel attached to... the language :)
